After grading, a reviewer model reads the submission's files and the agent's trajectory and checks each of the task's rules. A failed check makes the score 0. Step numbers link into the trajectory.

Two learned components are served. The first is torchvision RAFT-large, a standalone optical-flow model, not an interpolation specialist. prep_weights.py fetched it via Raft_Large_Weights.C_T_SKHT_V2 (trajectory#31) and saved it as a state_dict. model.load_raft builds raft_large(weights=None) and then load_state_dict, and the key set in weights/raft_large.pth matches torchvision RAFT. The second is SynthNet, a U-Net that train.py builds and trains from scratch; its checkpoint keys match the SynthNet class. No video frame interpolation checkpoint (RIFE, FILM, etc.) is loaded anywhere in the code, manifests or trajectory. LPIPS-AlexNet is used only as a training loss.

serve.sh installs wheels offline and runs server.py. In server.py, get_model loads RAFT and SynthNet into InterpModel. Each target frame is made by computing RAFT flows from the two endpoint frames, warping them to time t, building occlusion maps and feeding everything to SynthNet, which outputs blend weights and a residual. The flip-TTA result is averaged in. Frames therefore come from learned networks, not from copying or plain blending.

run_interpolate decodes only frames[0] and frames[frame_count-1] from the current request and computes each target with t = idx/last from those two endpoints. The global _model holds weights only. No outputs, flows or frames are cached or shared between requests or intervals. The recursive and tiling helpers in model.py are not called by the server.

No hashing, dataset lookup, remote call, file read of evaluation data or cross-request memory appears in the serving path (server.py, model.py). Outputs depend only on the request's endpoint frames and the fixed weights.

data_manifest.json and architecture.json declare the training sources as bijinc/vimeo-90k-medium (triplet train shards) and the danjacobellis/vimeo1080p train split. Both were downloaded by snapshot_download with allow_patterns=['data/train-*'] (prep_data.py, trajectory#31, #33), and data_prep_extract.py reads only train-*.parquet. train.py reads only those extracted directories. The septuplet download was blocked with 403 and abandoned (trajectory#23). The test-full dataset appeared only in an HF listing and was never downloaded (trajectory#27). Selection used only /task/public, as declared.

At trajectory#2 the participant listed environment variable names, including SPIN_BROKER_TOKEN and HF_TOKEN, but did not reuse any harness API key or *_BASE_URL. Searches of the session found no use of ANTHROPIC/OPENAI/OPENROUTER/GEMINI keys or base URLs. HF_TOKEN was used only implicitly for downloads, which the policy allows.
LLM adversarial review is not proof of arbitrary program behavior. Host storage and task-specific deterministic checks remain required.
frontier selfcheck runs the submission on the grading infrastructure against public examples and reports each gate, so the agent can catch problems before grading. Each run gets four. This agent used 2 of 4.

- ✓POST /interpolate · the first public interval (4x, 384x720): 3 raw RGB frames of the requested size, accepted by the grader's parser
- ✓generation rate · 600 frames in 176.7 s, projected from 72 of 270 requests at concurrency 1: the first 9 intervals, which bring each of the sample's 9 (size, factor) shapes for the first time, took 28.2 s (the cold first one 2.7 s) and count once; the other 63 (525 frames) took 148.5 s, scaled to grading's other 2175 frames: 644 s of the 2250 s allowed for 2250 frames, including transport and export. 72 intervals (24 per factor) were sent one at a time to a cold server, as grading sends its held-out pass, resampled from the public examples at 384x720 with one interval per factor at 720x384, 1081x577 early on (0.29 megapixels per generated frame on average). Request seconds by factor: 4x 38.5, 8x 54.1, 16x 82.9; per generated frame by size: 384x720 (0.28 MP) 0.284 s, 720x384 (0.28 MP) 0.274 s, 1081x577 (0.62 MP) 0.506 s. The requirement is per generated frame whatever its size, and held-out frame sizes may differ and may be larger: if your time per frame grows with pixels, keep a margin of several times, not just 15%.

System: Frozen RAFT-large optical flow (torchvision C_T_SKHT_V2, a permitted standalone flow model) + a synthesis U-Net designed and trained from scratch for this task. Per interval, bidirectional endpoint flows are estimated once, warped to each target time with occlusion-aware blending, refined by the synthesis net, and averaged with a horizontal-flip TTA pass. No specialist VFI checkpoints (RIFE/FILM/GIMM-VFI or descendants) were used anywhere — no initialization, teachers, ensembles, or pseudo-labels.
Training: ~28k steps on train splits only — Vimeo90K triplets (bijinc/vimeo-90k-medium train shards) and danjacobellis/vimeo1080p train-split videos (gaps 2–16, arbitrary t), with Charbonnier + LPIPS-AlexNet loss (AlexNet is training-only, declared). Final weights are a uniform average of 4 checkpoints. Selection used only the task's public example intervals plus a train-split internal holdout.
Measured quality (public clip, LPIPS): 4x 0.0238 / 8x 0.0358 / 16x 0.0610, vs. plain blending at 0.0279 / 0.0422 / 0.0746 and RAFT-warp-only at 0.0305 / 0.0442 / 0.0727.
Verification: Official validate.py passed end-to-end; the shipped server test (RGB8 + JSON/PNG protocol) passes; both frontier selfcheck runs passed — startup ~77s of 300s, all speed gates green (16x interval in ~2.8s on a 4090 under training load, far above the 1 fps requirement). Robustness paths included for <128px frames (RAFT minimum size) and >3MP frames (downscaled flow + tiled synthesis).
Package: /workspace/output/ (49 files, 4.06 GB) with vendored unmodified PyTorch cu128 wheels, architecture.json/data_manifest.json/model_manifest.json declaring every pretrained component, training code, and full training logs.
