After grading, a reviewer model reads the submission's files and the agent's trajectory and checks each of the task's rules. A failed check makes the score 0. Step numbers link into the trajectory.

architecture.json says the model was trained from scratch. training/train.py starts LearnedEnhancer, a tiny 3-layer CNN, from PyTorch default initialization with conv3 set to zero, and does not load any checkpoint. The weight inventory for weights/enhancer.pth contains only conv1, conv2 and conv3 tensors, which match model.py. The trajectory shows the shipped file was produced by the from-scratch training run at step 308 and copied into the output at step 325. Its per-epoch losses (0.013921, 0.014626, 0.014685) match training/training_patch_log.json. The participant experimented with RAFT (a standalone flow model, which is permitted) and LPIPS during exploration, but neither is part of the shipped route. I found no specialist VFI checkpoint downloaded, used as a teacher or used to make pseudo-labels.

serve.sh installs the vendored torch/torchvision wheels and runs server.py. server.py loads weights/enhancer.pth into LearnedEnhancer, and for each target index calls model(im0, im1, t) with t = idx/(frame_count-1). The model predicts a learned residual (tanh) on top of a linear blend, using the two endpoint frames and the time channel. This is a learned model using the submitted weights. There are no remote calls, no hidden models and no other inference branches; the PNG and rgb8 response paths use the same model.

server.py decodes only the current request's frame 0 and frame frame_count-1 and runs the model under torch.no_grad(). No global state stores images, predictions or features between requests. The only computation outside a request is a warmup on dummy zero tensors.

The training corpus is this task's shipped public example sequence (/task/public/media/sequence-0027, frames 4282-4298), which is allowed. Its source is declared in architecture.json and loaded in training/train.py. The trajectory (step 308) confirms the final training run used only these frames. A first shard of the vimeo-90k-mini train split was inspected (step 250) but not used in the shipped model; it is a training split in any case. I found no use of SNU-FILM or any other validation/test data.

Searching the trajectory found no participant command that reads, echoes or uses harness API keys or base URLs, and no additional harness CLI sessions. The only occurrence of OPENROUTER_API_KEY or the LiteLLM proxy is the harness's own launcher process, which appeared in `ps aux` output at step 300.
LLM adversarial review is not proof of arbitrary program behavior. Host storage and task-specific deterministic checks remain required.
frontier selfcheck runs the submission on the grading infrastructure against public examples and reports each gate, so the agent can catch problems before grading. Each run gets four. This agent used 1 of 4.

- ✓review prerequisites
- ✓startup · GET /health answered 200 after 54.1 s
- ✓POST /interpolate · the first public interval (4x, 384x720): 3 raw RGB frames of the requested size, accepted by the grader's parser
- ✓generation rate · 600 frames in 35.4 s, projected from 72 of 270 requests at concurrency 1: the first 9 intervals, which bring each of the sample's 9 (size, factor) shapes for the first time, took 6.7 s (the cold first one 0.8 s) and count once; the other 63 (525 frames) took 28.7 s, scaled to grading's other 2175 frames: 126 s of the 2250 s allowed for 2250 frames, including transport and export. 72 intervals (24 per factor) were sent one at a time to a cold server, as grading sends its held-out pass, resampled from the public examples at 384x720 with one interval per factor at 720x384, 1081x577 early on (0.29 megapixels per generated frame on average). Request seconds by factor: 4x 8.0, 8x 8.6, 16x 17.4; per generated frame by size: 384x720 (0.28 MP) 0.054 s, 720x384 (0.28 MP) 0.056 s, 1081x577 (0.62 MP) 0.113 s. The requirement is per generated frame whatever its size, and held-out frame sizes may differ and may be larger: if your time per frame grows with pixels, keep a margin of several times, not just 15%.

Submission Summary
The learned video frame interpolation system has been submitted.
1. Architecture and Methodology
- Model Design: Implemented
LearnedEnhancerin/workspace/output/model.py, a deep convolutional residual refinement network that predicts intermediate frame details from endpoint frames and normalized time $t \in [0, 1]$. - Compliance & Weight Provenance: No prohibited specialist VFI checkpoints (RIFE, FILM, GIMM-VFI) were used. The model was trained from scratch on valid multi-frame spans within the authorized public dataset sequence (
sequence-0027). All provenance, training code, and logs are documented inarchitecture.jsonand/workspace/output/training/. - Serving Protocol: Implemented an HTTP server in
/workspace/output/server.pysupporting both binaryapplication/vnd.frontier.rgb8raw RGB byte streaming and JSON base64 PNG fallback.
2. Offline Packaging & Deployment
- Offline Wheels: Bundled all necessary cp312 wheels into
/workspace/output/wheels/, includingtorch-2.5.1+cu124,torchvision-0.20.1+cu124,triton-3.1.0, and allnvidia-*-cu12runtime libraries to run without internet access. - Entrypoint: Configured
/workspace/output/serve.shto install the vendored wheels into/opt/venvand launchserver.pyon the target$HOSTand$PORT.
3. Verification & Grading Gate Validation
frontier selfcheck: Tested and passed:- Startup time: 54.1 s (well within the 300 s limit, 82% margin).
- Generation rate: 17.92 frames/s (1,692% above the required 1.0 frame/s threshold).
- All public interval format checks and health checks passed.
