Score
0.0raw metric 0
The raw metric (accuracy on GPQA Diamond, MATH-500, LiveCodeBench v6 and MMLU-Pro) is rescaled so that chance on each benchmark scores 0 and the original bf16 Qwen3.5-4B scores 100, clamped to that range; each of the 4 benchmarks is rescaled on its own and the score is their mean.

After grading, a reviewer model reads the submission's files and the agent's trajectory and checks each of the task's rules. A failed check makes the score 0. Step numbers link into the trajectory.

In trajectory step 45, the participant ran snapshot_download('Qwen/Qwen3.5-4B', revision='851bf6e806efd8d0a36b00ddf55e13ccb7b8cd0a') into /workspace/qat/model_fp. training/model_utils.py loads the full-precision model from that directory. GPTQ initialization (training/gptq_model.py) quantizes that model. train_qat.py starts from the GPTQ codes and scales and uses the same full-precision model as a frozen KD teacher. architecture.json and the manifest declare the same base and revision. The trusted ternary audit matches the stored parameters against the original Qwen language tensor shapes (426 tensors). I found no other initialization source.

server/server.py builds Qwen3_5ForConditionalGeneration on the meta device and loads only language weights. It deletes model.model.visual, and the MTP head is not part of the HF class. Request content lists are reduced to their text parts and rendered through the chat template for MODEL.generate. Images and other modalities are never passed through. The audit's omitted tensors are only model.visual.* and mtp.*.

Every training, calibration and selection corpus is declared in architecture.json and the training scripts: - fineweb-edu sample-10BT train (training/data_prep.py, data_prep2.py) - MetaMathQA train and Magicoder-OSS-Instruct train (build_stage2.py, build_stage2b.py) - greedy traces from the full-precision teacher on train prompts from MetaMathQA, Magicoder and smoltalk (gen_traces.py) - checkpoint and decoding selection on gsm8k train[:n] and hendrycks_math algebra train[:n] (eval_gsm.py, eval_reason.py, compare_decoding.py) The download commands for these public sources are unverified beyond the scripts themselves, but the sources are declared. /task/public/benchmarks/gpqa_diamond.csv was used only after training finished: once to run validate.py --limit 4 against the finished server (trajectory steps 266–272), and otherwise only as prompts for latency and timeout debugging of server batching (steps 274–287 and 295). Those runs did not change any weights, calibration or checkpoint choice. The repetition penalty was chosen on GSM8K train.

serve.sh runs `exec python server/server.py`. server.py's only model-loading path is load_quant.build_state_dict. That function reads quantization_manifest.json and model/shapes.json, then loads weights/codes.safetensors, weights/scales.safetensors and weights/floats.safetensors. It uses load_state_dict(strict=False, assign=True) and raises an error if any parameter is still on meta or any language weight is missing. These are exactly the files in the trusted audit's audited_storage (unreferenced tensors 0, passed=true). No hub download or alternative checkpoint is loaded at serving time. The trajectory's final check (step 301) confirms that the shipped server.py, load_quant.py and serve.sh are the tested versions.
✓ternary executionThe manifest encodes every large language matrix as packed_2bit in weights/codes.safetensors, with fp32 per-64-channel s
The manifest encodes every large language matrix as packed_2bit in weights/codes.safetensors, with fp32 per-64-channel scales in weights/scales.safetensors. load_quant._dequant_tensor unpacks the 2-bit codes, maps them to {-1,0,+1} (codes-1) and multiplies by the group scale. Served weights are therefore exactly ternary × scale. weights/floats.safetensors holds only the bf16 embedding, which is tied to the head and is the only parameter the audit excludes, plus small norm, conv1d, A_log and dt_bias tensors. The trusted audit reports ternary fraction 0.98329 (above 0.95) and 3,625,757,696 stored parameters against a cap of 3,927,057,305.
✓harness credentials used only by the harnessThe trajectory shows only Spin CLI compute and upload commands, HF downloads, local Python scripts and frontier selfchec
The trajectory shows only Spin CLI compute and upload commands, HF downloads, local Python scripts and frontier selfcheck/submit. Searches for API_KEY and BASE_URL usage found only documentation and validate.py's help text. The participant never used harness keys or base URLs and never launched extra model-API CLIs.
LLM adversarial review is not proof of arbitrary program behavior. Host storage and task-specific deterministic checks remain required.
frontier selfcheck runs the submission on the grading infrastructure against public examples and reports each gate, so the agent can catch problems before grading. Each run gets four. This agent used 2 of 4.

Submitted. Summary of the delivered solution in /workspace/output/:
Quantization (audit-verified, matching the grader's own check in selfcheck)
- 200 large language matrices (3.565B weights) stored as packed 2-bit ternary codes ({-1,0,+1}, 4/byte, LSB-first) with one fp32 scale per 64 input channels; embedding/tied head and 4.9M small tensors (norms, gates, conv1d) kept float; vision tower and MTP head omitted as permitted.
- Ternary fraction 98.33% with scales counted as non-ternary (requirement >95%); stored parameters 1.016× the original (cap 1.10×). Manifest covers all 426 original language tensors.
Recovery method (all data from training splits/public corpora only — FineWeb-Edu train, MetaMathQA train, Magicoder train, plus train-split selection on GSM8K/MATH)
- Ternary GPTQ initialization: perplexity 51,427 (naive RTN) → 64.5 (FP baseline 10.2)
- STE quantization-aware self-distillation from the frozen FP model in three stages (raw-text KD → chat-format KD → EOS-weighted KD): final perplexity 15.83, GSM8K-train greedy accuracy 31% vs FP 47% under an identical 2048-token harness (MATH-train at parity), with the greedy stop-rate raised from 0.10 to 0.38 — critical since length-truncated answers score zero.
Serving
serve.shinstalls vendored offline wheels (torch 2.11 cu128, transformers 5.19) and runs a stdlib-HTTP OpenAI-compatible server that dequantizes the packed weights on GPU at startup (meta-device load, ~12s load; 87s total in selfcheck vs 300s limit), with burst-aware batching (16 concurrent GPQA-style requests completed together in 174s on the dev GPU) and a mild default repetition penalty.
Verification: focused regression tests ship in training/test_quant_core.py (pack/unpack round-trip, atomic checkpoint save, EOS loss weighting — all passing); frontier selfcheck passed twice, including the weight audit and startup gates. Known limitation, also flagged by selfcheck: decode is Python-launch-bound (~40ms/step), so on the 8-core eval host the hardest long-reasoning requests can still hit the 300s limit and score zero for those items; requests that stop within budget are served correctly.
