Score
10.1raw metric 0.2457
The raw metric (judged drawing quality) is rescaled so that untouched gpt-oss-20b (0.188) scores 0 and the reference drawings (0.753) scores 100, clamped to that range.

After grading, a reviewer model reads the submission's files and the agent's trajectory and checks each of the task's rules. A failed check makes the score 0. Step numbers link into the trajectory.

architecture.json and training_manifest.json declare openai/gpt-oss-20b at revision 6cee5e81ee83917806bbde320786a8fb61efebee. The trajectory shows this repo and revision were downloaded with snapshot_download and then dequantized from MXFP4 to bf16 (dequant.py). train_sft.py loads that base with AutoModelForCausalLM.from_pretrained. It then trains LoRA adapters on attention q/k/v/o and on the GptOssExperts layers. The --init_adapter option exists but run2 did not use it. train.log and train_config.json record 431 steps on sft_v2.jsonl. merge_lora.py merges W + scale·BA into the base. logs/merge.log and logs/assemble_run2.log show 144/144 adapters merged and 411 tensors with 0 problems. The shipped shard inventories match the gpt-oss-20b tensor structure. The experiment that scaled lm_head was rejected. At trajectory#509/#511 the final unscaled run2 shards matched the manifest hashes, with no mismatches.

The training data is synthetic. Instructions came from gen_instructions.py (gemini through the spin OpenRouter endpoint, across 60 self-written categories) and SVG answers from gen_teacher.py (a teacher model). build_sft.py only filters them. data/sources.json, README.md and architecture.json declare these sources and state that no public SVG dataset or SVGenius data was used, and that validation prompts were not used as seeds. The generation is supported by logs/gen_instructions.log and logs/gen_teacher_train.log; beyond those, the provenance is unverified. Validation and dev sets were used only for evaluation and candidate selection. No SVGenius or other public text-to-SVG benchmark was downloaded, tuned on or used for lookup in the code or the trajectory.

At trajectory#19 the participant only listed masked environment variables. At trajectory#40 it created its own scoped key with `spin openrouter key create` and wrote it to /tmp/or_key.json. llm.py reads the API key from SPIN_KEY_FILE (/tmp/or_key.json), not from harness environment credentials. The session shows no Anthropic API, Claude CLI or Codex usage and no reuse of harness credentials.
LLM adversarial review is not proof of arbitrary program behavior. Host storage and task-specific deterministic checks remain required.
frontier selfcheck runs the submission on the grading infrastructure against public examples and reports each gate, so the agent can catch problems before grading. Each run gets four. This agent used 2 of 4.

The agent's last message before its session ended.
The submission is in: /workspace/output (53 files, 41.9 GB) was submitted at 14:06 UTC. It's the run-2 finetune, the only candidate that passed a frontier selfcheck.
What was submitted
model/: the 411-tensor bf16 checkpoint, dequantized from MXFP4 and merged with LoRA deltas. The layout matchestensors.json, andtokenizer.jsonis identical to/artifacts.- Training: 431 steps, two epochs over 2,357 synthetic drawings. The adapters are rank 64 on attention and rank 32 on the MoE experts. The loss covers the analysis plan and the SVG.
- Data: instructions from
gemini-3.6-flashand drawings fromgpt-6-sol, both generated throughspin. No public dataset was used. - Provenance:
training_manifest.jsonandarchitecture.json(every referenced path checked), plus the training and generation code, logs, and data.
Measured results (proxy judge gpt-6-sol with the official rubric)
- Validation (30 prompts × 2 samples): 0.41. The untouched base scored 0.30 and the reference drawings 0.83.
- Dev (150 generated prompts, 2 samples each): 0.14. The base scored 0.075 and the teacher's own drawings 0.81.
- Selfcheck: failed once, on a single unresolved
url(#…)reference in 16 answers, then passed on the final weights, with 16 of 16 valid and the 254-request projection at about 205 s against a 10,800 s limit.
What didn't work
- Two more epochs on a larger set, with best-of-four self-samples, made the model loop until the token limit (14 of 60 validation outputs), so it was dropped.
- Scaling the output head for a higher effective temperature reduced quality.
- Flattening the gradients removed the unresolved references, but raised the looping rate and lowered the dev score.
Caveats
- The judge is
gpt-6-solthroughspin, at default reasoning, because the broker rejects reasoning controls for it. That's close to but not identical to the official judging. - About 1.5% of answers are invalid (mostly loops), which scores zero. The dev and validation numbers above are from small samples, so differences under about 0.02 are noise.
- The local merge isn't bit-identical to the box merge, probably from float32 BLAS rounding. The selfcheck tested the submitted bytes.
- The spend was about $160 of the $200 budget.
