Score
44.6raw metric 0.7232
The raw metric (mean of quality (OCR text, OCR layout, judged faithfulness) and judged realism) is rescaled so that a baseline that draws each text line into its box on a white page (0.537) scores 0 and the real screenshots (0.954) scores 100, clamped to that range.

After grading, a reviewer model reads the submission's files and the agent's trajectory and checks each of the task's rules. A failed check makes the score 0. Step numbers link into the trajectory.

Nothing in the submission was trained, fine-tuned or calibrated. architecture.json says training is 'none' and its data-source lists are empty, and DATA_MANIFEST.md says the same. The two in-context examples in app/prompt.py are hand-written synthetic layouts. During development the participant only tested and chose the model against the allowed /task/public examples (trajectory#35–39). No dataset-repository downloads, load_dataset calls or held-out data appear anywhere. The model, wheels and fonts come from declared public sources (HF Hub, PyPI, GitHub), and download logs are kept under logs/.

The only learned component is the general-purpose instruction LLM Qwen/Qwen3-30B-A3B-Instruct-2507-FP8 at revision 5a5a7763. download_model.sh fetches it from the HF Hub with snapshot_download (trajectory#17–30). Its model card names the upstream Qwen base. The weight inventory shows the standard Qwen3 MoE tensors (FP8 experts with weight_scale_inv, lm_head 151936x2048) and no adapters or extra heads. The image generator itself is a PIL/numpy renderer with no starting weights.

app/server.py builds each image from scratch: it runs a geometry analysis of the requested text boxes, gets a layout DSL from the LLM (or the heuristic fallback in app/heuristic.py), and draws it with app/render.py using PIL drawing calls and the bundled open-licensed fonts. The submission contains no PNG or JSONL data files, the app code has no Image.open of stored images, and serve.sh sets HF_HUB_OFFLINE and TRANSFORMERS_OFFLINE. DEBUG_DIR only writes outputs.

serve.sh installs wheels offline and starts vLLM's OpenAI server on $SUB/model at 127.0.0.1:8001. It sets LLM_BASE_URL to that local endpoint and LLM_MODEL=layout, then runs app/server.py. The POST /v1/images/generations handler calls LLMClient.complete in app/llm.py, which posts to the local /chat/completions endpoint, then parses the DSL and renders it with app/render.py into a base64 PNG. So the shipped weights are what serving actually uses.

The trajectory shows the participant made their own key with `spin openrouter key create` (trajectory#33) and used it only against the Spin OpenRouter proxy. That covered LLM calls from the dev servers (e.g. trajectory#43–59) and the validation judge calls (trajectory#212–226), both of which are allowed. I found no use of harness-reserved keys (searches for ANTHROPIC and OPENROUTER_API_KEY found nothing relevant) and no extra harness CLI runs such as `claude -p`. The shipped serving path calls only the local vLLM.
LLM adversarial review is not proof of arbitrary program behavior. Host storage and task-specific deterministic checks remain required.
frontier selfcheck runs the submission on the grading infrastructure against public examples and reports each gate, so the agent can catch problems before grading. Each run gets four. This agent used 3 of 4.

Final selfcheck passed (startup 148 s, p95 10.6 s, 20/20 valid). I'll stop the dev servers, clear any bytecode caches they left in the submission folder, and submit.
