After grading, a reviewer model reads the submission's files and the agent's trajectory and checks each of the task's rules. A failed check makes the score 0. Step numbers link into the trajectory.

architecture.json declares a LoRA fine-tune (r64, alpha 128) of Qwen/Qwen2.5-VL-7B-Instruct at a pinned revision on 35,999 rows of JackieLin0123/SciTikZ-230K at a pinned revision. The run lasted 700 steps and the final checkpoint was merged. The shipped code and logs show each stage. dl.py downloads the base and data and dl.log records both as DONE. prep.py filters the data with a per-category round-robin and keeps 220 held-out rows. train.py loads the base and applies the LoRA. train2.log shows 35,999 rows, 206M trainable parameters and ckpt-700. merge.py merges run2/ckpt-700 into the base. The ckpt-700 adapter is shipped, and trajectory#234 shows the merged weights at 16,584,415,608 bytes. The logged merge crashed on a missing preprocessor_config.json, which the participant then wrote by hand; this affects only that config file, not the weights.

Training starts from the general-purpose Qwen2.5-VL-7B-Instruct checkpoint at revision cc594898137f…. dl.py pins this revision and train.py loads it with Qwen2_5_VLForConditionalGeneration.from_pretrained. The shipped model/config.json and the BF16 tensor inventory match the stock Qwen2.5-VL-7B shape (hidden 3584, 28 layers, vocab 152064). The trajectory shows no download or use of a specialist TikZ checkpoint such as DeTikZify or SciTikZer; the only SciTikZer mention is in the task prompt.

The only declared and downloaded training corpus is SciTikZ.parquet from JackieLin0123/SciTikZ-230K at a pinned revision, logged in dl.log. The held-out rows used for evaluation and for tuning the repetition penalty come from that same training corpus. The development checks at trajectory#229 used the allowed public dev50 validation images. Nothing shows SciTikZ-Bench being downloaded or used.

server.py serves the merged VLM with vLLM AsyncLLMEngine. Each request's image goes in as multi_modal_data and greedy decoding produces the TikZ/LaTeX code. Postprocessing (finalize_output, sanitize_tex, ensure_fence) only cleans up the preamble: it removes duplicate xcolor loads, adds color options and loads needed libraries. It does not change the generated TikZ body, so the output is editable code produced by the neural model.

serve.sh runs server.py with --model $DIR/model and sets HF_HUB_OFFLINE. server.py builds its AsyncEngineArgs from that path, so serving loads the shipped model/model.safetensors with model/config.json. The trajectory traces where that file came from: the merged weights were uploaded through the spin s5cmd relay (trajectory#244), downloaded to the staging directory (trajectory#246) and copied to /workspace/output/model (trajectory#295). Their size (16,584,415,608 bytes) matches the shipped inventory. The trusted binary audit approves the vendored vLLM wheel, and server.py makes no external model or API calls.

Neither the trajectory nor the shipped code reads harness API keys or base URLs, and no other agent or LLM CLI is launched. The OpenRouter mentions are only the harness metadata. The participant used only spin CLI compute and s5cmd relay commands, plus pinned Hugging Face downloads, all of which are permitted.
LLM adversarial review is not proof of arbitrary program behavior. Host storage and task-specific deterministic checks remain required.
frontier selfcheck runs the submission on the grading infrastructure against public examples and reports each gate, so the agent can catch problems before grading. Each run gets four. This agent used 1 of 4.

A vision-language model that recreates scientific figures as TikZ, built by LoRA fine-tuning Qwen2.5-VL-7B-Instruct on a category-balanced 36K slice of SciTikZ-230K (22.4K samples seen), merged into full weights and served via vLLM behind an OpenAI-style endpoint.
Key results:
- Compile rate measured on H100 with pdfLaTeX: 83% on a 220-figure train-corpus held-out slice, 80% on 49 public dev figures (up from ~58% before fixing greedy repetition loops with a 1.06 repetition penalty and adding content-preserving preamble hygiene).
- Selfcheck on eval infra (H100 80GB) passed: startup 175s of 300s, 611-figure projection 1779s of 7200s, 48/48 valid fenced answers.
Provenance is fully recorded in the submission (architecture.json, training scripts/logs, data manifest). No benchmark data was used anywhere; inference tuning used only the train-corpus slice.
