The raw metric (mean document R-score) is rescaled so that one span over each whole document (R-score 0.235) scores 0 and the gold spans scores 100, clamped to that range.

After grading, a reviewer model reads the submission's files and the agent's trajectory and checks each of the task's rules. A failed check makes the score 0. Step numbers link into the trajectory.
✓training data provenanceThe final training run (training/code/final.sh, training/FINAL.md) used three data sources: training/data/validation.jso
The final training run (training/code/final.sh, training/FINAL.md) used three data sources: training/data/validation.jsonl, gen2001_labc2 and gen2004_labc2. validation.jsonl holds the 39 shipped public validation documents (ids validation-0000 to validation-0038), which the policy allows. The gen2001 and gen2004 sets are synthetic documents the participant generated and labelled with LLMs through the Spin OpenRouter proxy (training/code/gen.py, training/code/llm.py), and their sources are declared in training/data_manifest.json and training/README.md. Public PII datasets were fetched only as train-split parquet files (download_public.py and trajectory#126 for nvidia/Nemotron-PII and gretelai/gretel-pii-masking-en-v1). They were used only for inspection or abandoned ablations. The session listed validation and test files at trajectory#119 but never downloaded them. I found no use of RedactionBench or the hidden evaluation data beyond the 39 public docs.

train.py loads the starting weights with from_pretrained(args.init or args.model, num_labels=3). The final command in final.sh and FINAL.md passes --model jhu-clsp/ettin-encoder-1b, which is a general-purpose encoder. architecture.json pins the same base model and revision. The shipped model/config.json (ModernBertForTokenClassification, hidden size 1792, 28 layers, 3 labels) and the safetensors tensor inventory match a ModernBERT ettin-1b with a new 3-way classifier head. The trajectory shows that training command being run. No PII-specialist checkpoint was used as the starting point.
✓no lookup of evaluation documentsserver.py tokenizes the request text, runs sliding-window inference with the token-classification model, and decodes spa
server.py tokenizes the request text, runs sliding-window inference with the token-classification model, and decodes spans using thresholds read from model/decode_config.json, followed by generic merge, trim and finalize steps. The request id is only echoed back. The server does no hashing, has no lookup table of documents, does no retrieval and makes no network calls.
✓actual inference uses reviewed weightsserve.sh installs pinned wheels offline, sets HF_HUB_OFFLINE=1 and TRANSFORMERS_OFFLINE=1, and runs server.py. server.py
serve.sh installs pinned wheels offline, sets HF_HUB_OFFLINE=1 and TRANSFORMERS_OFFLINE=1, and runs server.py. server.py loads AutoModelForTokenClassification from MODEL_DIR, which defaults to ./model and is not overridden by serve.sh. That directory holds the reviewed model/model.safetensors and model/config.json. The trajectory shows the shipped safetensors hash matches the tobf16.py conversion of the final training output (trajectory#664-665). There is no alternate model and no remote inference path.

The participant's LLM calls in training/code/llm.py read a key and base URL from ~/.cache/or_key.json. That key was created during the session with `spin openrouter key create`, which the policy permits. I found no harness credential or harness endpoint being read or used by the participant's code, and no extra agent CLI sessions.
LLM adversarial review is not proof of arbitrary program behavior. Host storage and task-specific deterministic checks remain required.
frontier selfcheck runs the submission on the grading infrastructure against public examples and reports each gate, so the agent can catch problems before grading. Each run gets four. This agent used 2 of 4.

The agent's last message before its session ended.
The submission is in. The final self-check passed on an H100 (start-up 76.8 s, all 161 responses valid, 7.45 docs/s against the required 5).
- Model: a 3-class token classifier (nothing, contextual, mandatory) fine-tuned from
jhu-clsp/ettin-encoder-1b. It was trained on the 39 provided documents (repeated 10×) plus about 1,300 synthetic documents. The synthetic documents were generated and labelled by LLMs throughspin, then calibrated to the gold labelling conventions seen in the 39 examples. - Serving:
serve.shinstalls the vendored wheels offline and starts the server.POST /redactreturns spans from 4094-token windows blended together, and every span list is checked against the span rules before it is returned. - Validation score: cross-validation on the 28 held-out example documents gave mean R-scores around 0.82–0.84, or about 0.84–0.85 without document 0034. That document swings by up to 0.03 on the mean between seeds, and the standard error is about 0.04. No score on the real test set was available.
- What didn't help: serving with 8190-token windows cost about 34% of throughput for a gain within noise. Averaging model weights or predictions from two seeds gave no useful gain: weight averaging scored lower, and averaging predictions gained only +0.006 at double the inference cost. Training on longer windows, extra synthetic data and the public Nemotron-PII train split made no difference.
- Records:
training/has the data sources with download commands, training and evaluation code, and logs.architecture.jsonlists the base-model revision and evidence files.training/FINAL.mdhas the exact final training command. - Compute: all GPU leases are stopped. About $103.5 of the $200 budget was spent.
The architecture review did not run during the self-check, and the submission notes say it can still score zero.
