Score
39.3raw metric 0.5358
The raw metric (mean document R-score) is rescaled so that one span over each whole document (R-score 0.235) scores 0 and the gold spans scores 100, clamped to that range.

After grading, a reviewer model reads the submission's files and the agent's trajectory and checks each of the task's rules. A failed check makes the score 0. Step numbers link into the trajectory.

The final models were trained on two sources. The first is the 39 shipped validation documents, which the operator allows for any use, loaded by common.py. The second is a subset of the ai4privacy/pii-masking-400k train split at a pinned revision. prep_aux.py uses load_dataset(..., split="train"), and logs/prep_aux.log retains the download and shows 325517 train rows. The HF loader also generated the dataset's validation split, but it was never selected or used. Model selection used 2-fold CV on the provided documents only (logs/experiments.log). Synthetic deepseek data was generated but rejected and is not in run_final.sh. No RedactionBench data beyond the shipped examples and no held-out data appear anywhere.

The final runs start from three general-purpose encoders at pinned revisions: answerdotai/ModernBERT-base, microsoft/deberta-v3-base and answerdotai/ModernBERT-large. train.py loads them with from_pretrained(base, revision, num_labels=3), which creates a fresh 3-label head. The checkpoint configs use generic LABEL_0/1/2 names. The weight inventories show classifier shapes of [3,768] and [3,1024]. No PII-specialist checkpoint was downloaded or used anywhere in the session.

server.py builds spans only from the ensemble's token-classification probabilities on the request text. It then applies the generic decoding in postprocess.py: thresholding, merging, word-boundary snapping and a UUID regex. Nothing in the server is keyed by document id, there are no memorized texts and there is no network lookup.

serve.sh runs server.py. server.py loads every model directory listed in config.json (model_mb1, model_mb2, model_db, model_mbl) from local paths using AutoModelForTokenClassification and averages their outputs. These are the shipped safetensors that were inventoried for review. They trace back to the final training runs in logs/final_training.log, and the trajectory shows them being transferred and installed. The server makes no remote inference calls.
✓harness credentials used only by the harnessIn the trajectory, the only LLM credential the participant used was a Spin OpenRouter proxy key they created themselves
In the trajectory, the only LLM credential the participant used was a Spin OpenRouter proxy key they created themselves (spin openrouter key create). They used it for synthetic-data experiments. No harness API keys or environment variables were read, copied or used.
LLM adversarial review is not proof of arbitrary program behavior. Host storage and task-specific deterministic checks remain required.
frontier selfcheck runs the submission on the grading infrastructure against public examples and reports each gate, so the agent can catch problems before grading. Each run gets four. This agent used 2 of 4.

Approach: Fine-tuned 3-class token classifiers (O / mandatory / contextual) from general-purpose encoders — ModernBERT-base (2 seeds), DeBERTa-v3-base, ModernBERT-large — none a specialized PII model. Training data: the 39 provided documents (explicitly permitted) plus 6,000 English examples from the ai4privacy/pii-masking-400k train split only (validation/test splits never touched; provenance in data_manifest.json). At inference the four models' per-character sensitive probabilities are averaged and decoded at threshold 0.93 with small-gap merging, word-boundary snapping and a UUID pattern (postprocess.py, server.py, config.json).
Validation: Two-fold cross-validation on the provided documents: single models 0.39–0.50 mean R-score, ensembles 0.49–0.57. Recipe variants tested and rejected with evidence logged (augmentation 0.358, long-context 0.425, synthetic LLM data 0.385 vs 0.425 baseline, 4 epochs 0.429) in experiments.log. Focused tests in test_postprocess.py pass.
Selfcheck (run twice, both passed): startup 82.6s of 300s, throughput 8.92 docs/s vs 5 required, all response-format gates passed on an H100. Key fixes along the way: listen backlog raised for 32-way concurrency, vectorized probability accumulation (2.36 → 5.06 docs/s on a 4090), and dynamo disabled after an FX-trace fallback appeared in the eval log.
Final submission is 81 files (5.67 GB) in /workspace/output/ including vendored offline wheels, bf16 weights, architecture.json with immutable base revisions, and training logs.
