0.4raw metric 0.003313
The raw metric (word-level edit similarity of the decoded text) is rescaled so that empty text scores 0 and unmodified DeepSeek-OCR reading the page image (0.893) scores 100, clamped to that range.

After grading, a reviewer model reads the submission's files and the agent's trajectory and checks each of the task's rules. A failed check makes the score 0. Step numbers link into the trajectory.

encoder.py takes the pixel tensors through DeepSeek-OCR's SAM, CLIP and projector to get 1280-dim features. quantizer.py then maps each feature to its nearest centroid in a learned k-means codebook. train_codebook.py trained that codebook (65535 centroids, seed 212, 12 iterations) on features from the DocumentVQA and website-screenshots train splits, both pinned to revisions. The weights/codebook.safetensors inventory shows codebook [65535,1280] F16, which matches the code and the logs. The payload is a header symbol, a geometry code and 856 codes, 858 in total, which is 13728 bits and under the 16384 budget. The encode path makes no OCR or language-model call, so the codes are learned discrete visual codes and not text.

decoder.py takes only the code list. It validates the header and grid in quantizer.py and rebuilds embeddings by index_select into the codebook. It adds image_newline and view_seperator from the checkpoint, then runs greedy generate with the fixed 'Free OCR.' prompt, one page at a time. server.py's /decode endpoint passes it only the codes. No image, pixel cache or per-request side channel is shared with the encoder.

serve.sh runs server.py in offline mode. server.py loads model/ through DeepseekOCRForCausalLM.from_pretrained and loads weights/codebook.safetensors. trajectory#15 shows the participant copying the provided DeepSeek-OCR artifact (/artifacts/deepseek-ocr/weights) into output/model. The model/model-00001-of-000001.safetensors inventory has the DeepseekV2/DeepSeek-OCR tensor layout, including model.image_newline. trajectory#36 patched modeling only to skip the vision tower when input_ids or images are None, which is benign. The served codebook has the same shape that train_codebook.py saved, as recorded in logs/train.log and training_config.json. The base parameters are frozen, as declared.

I searched the trajectory for API keys, base URLs, codex exec and LLM SDK calls by the participant and found none. The only external tools used were the allowed spin compute and s5cmd operations (trajectory#14, trajectory#15). The served code runs offline and makes no external API calls.
LLM adversarial review is not proof of arbitrary program behavior. Host storage and task-specific deterministic checks remain required.
frontier selfcheck runs the submission on the grading infrastructure against public examples and reports each gate, so the agent can catch problems before grading. Each run gets four. This agent used 4 of 4.

frontier selfcheckpassed: startup 11.3 s, encode 7.81 images/s, decode 1.71 images/s. Codes use at most 13,728 bits. - The codebook was trained on 700,000 visual features from training splits only; provenance and logs are in training_summary.json and train.log.
- Accuracy limitation: generation is capped at 40 tokens to meet decode throughput and deterministic output requirements, so longer page transcriptions are truncated.
